Favorite Aerial Photos: The Americas

I had a hard time choosing the best photos for this segment, so there are more photos than last entry. I have noticed that, since some of these views are from ten or fifteen years ago, some of the cityscapes have changed.

Lima, Peru to Bogota, Colombia. Approaching Bogota. What a contrast! The greenery here versus the drab dryness around Lima.

Bogota-Santiago Flight. This is the Atacama Desert of Northern Chile.
From Medellin to Santa Marta, on the northern coast of Colombia. The runway at Santa Marta was right along the coastline.
Santa Marta to Panama. The Darien Gap is much easier to fly over than to traverse by foot or vehicle.
The site of the hoped for future New Mexico International Airport (NAIM). Located near Taxcoco, suburb of Mexico City (top left) this progress has long-since stalled in the face of local opposition and political, financial, and ecological snags.
Denver to Albuquerque, New Mexico flight. North of Colorado Springs. Palmer Lake is on the top, Northgate on the bottom right.
Colorado Springs and United States Air Force Academy
Closer view of the United States Air Force Academy. I would have made an even better shot but the flight attendant interrupted me with a delicious meal!
Minnesota-Seattle flight. Somewhere in Minnesota. Brrr!
Minnesota. Unknown town with railroad tracks.
On our way to China. Alaska. Or maybe still Yukon, Canada
Alaska
Houston to Cozumel, Mexico flight. San Jacinto Battle Monument. The battlefield site is just to the left of the obelisk.
Galveston, Texas. On the top is the East End Lagoon Nature Preserve. This view was just a few minutes after that of San Jacinto.
Greenville-Spartanburg, SC to Chicago. Taken shortly after take-off.
Somewhere between South Carolina and Chicago!
Greater Chicago area. This one view is from an earlier flight than the others on either side of this photo.
Greater Chicago area. Where, exactly, is this? Help appreciated in locating this view and the three following.
Greater Chicago.
Greater Chicago.
Greater Chicago.. Looking down on an airplane.
Downtown Chicago and Lake Michigan. I will end my blog entry with this view that was actually the beginning of our eighteen month journey to Asian Georgia and ending in Ukraine. It took 34 hours, if I remember correctly, from Greenville to Chicago to Qatar to Tbilisi, Georgia.

Thanks to this current Covid-19 craziness it was to be our last overseas venture. Maybe one day the skies will once again be open.
